About
Frame 44 is a Canadian, veteran-founded company. Our historians research and build interactive map exhibits for museums, historical societies and heritage sites — real, sourced history, made easy for visitors to explore.
We built the archive first. Project '44 exists because the record should be public — eight years of mapping and digitization, owned by a registered nonprofit and free to anyone. Then museums started asking for it in their galleries, which a public map was never built to do. So we built Frame 44: the technology that puts that archive on your gallery floor, licensed from the people who made it, built by the historians who mapped it.
CEO and co-founder
Nathan served 13 years in the Canadian Army with the Royal Canadian Dragoons before founding Frame 44. He built Project '44 over roughly eight years, to more than 160,000 manually mapped unit positions, and serves as Executive Director of the Canadian Research and Mapping Association, the nonprofit that holds the archive.
CTO and co-founder
Ondrej is Frame 44's technical co-founder. He built the Project '44 web platform on MapLibre GL JS, React/TypeScript and PostGIS.
Lead Historian and Researcher
Jonesy leads the archival research and source verification behind every Frame 44 exhibit — reading the war diaries against the mapped positions and deciding what the story actually is.
